At least 40 dead in blast during political rally in Pakistan

Islamabad: A tragic incident occurred in Pakistan, where at least 40 people were killed and over 200 others injured in a suicide blast targeting a convention of JUI-F workers. The blast occurred during the speech of a JUI-F leader at the event.

The injured are being rushed to Timergara and Peshawar for medical attention, according to the district emergency officer.

The initial investigation by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akhtar Hayat Khan indicates that it was a suicide attack. Investigation teams are currently gathering evidence from the blast site.

Prime Minister Shehbaz has directed authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident and identify those responsible.

IG Frontier Corps (FC) Major General Noor Wali Khan has arrived in Bajaur to supervise the situation. The CMH Peshawar has been put on alert, and rescue operations led by security forces and law enforcement agencies are underway.

The explosion occurred around 4 pm while Maulana Laeeq was addressing the JUI-F convention. Notably, JUI-F MNA Maulana Jamaluddin and Senator Abdul Rasheed were also present at the event during the tragic incident.

The situation remains tense and authorities are actively working to assess the full extent of the damage and bring those responsible to justice.
